This work is a conceptual reaction towards Belsay Hall, and how its many historical architectural features create an atmosphere of calm and abandoned beauty.
The structural elongated lines within each room, are intertwined with remnants of wallpaper, representing the features found within the Hall itself, and to also suggest the past lives of the families and workers of a bygone age.
The choice of plaster panels echoes the gentle themes of fragility capturing a ghostly presence. An eerie yet peaceful atmosphere is created, allowing the contemplation of the mystery and the past, encouraging a journey through the vacant space.
